20200423· The Sky Q boxes use Bluetooth for the remotes, not IR. The Sky Q boxes can use either IR or bluetooth remotes. With the bluetooth you do get more functionality voice control etc. If the AV cupboard is in the same room\close then no problem with bluetooth.
