Abstract A model for the detection of CO in the presence of humidity is proposed for thick porous film gas sensors based on ptype CuO. The sensing mechanism is investigated by means of simultaneous DC electrical resistance and work function changes measurements combined with appropriate modeling of the conduction in the polycrystalline sensing film.
01/01/2015· 4. Conclusions In this work we have investigated the gas sensing behavior of CuONPs towards CO2 by the means of work function readout based on Kelvin probe measurements. The sensitivity of CuONPs is found out to be dependent on both relative humidity level in the environment and the temperature. The measurements indicate that the highest CO2 change in work function response is achievable at the temperature of 50°C; however the influence of humidity is still quite high on CO2 ...

15/08/2021· Their sensing responses for CO gas were compared; typical for ptype semiconductors, the resistances of both sensing materials increased as CO was introduced. The CuOTiNTiO2 powder had a greater response than the CuOTiN powder at all temperatures tested. The highest responses shown by the two materials were to 1000 ppm CO at 250 °C: a response of by CuOTiNTiO2 and by CuO …

Ptype CuO appears to be a good candidate for gas sensing applications. And surface morphology of this material plays a vital role in affecting its sensitivity towards various gases when analysed by Kelvin probe surface workfunction sensing scheme. We determined that CuO shows high sensitivity to carbon monoxide only in the form of nanowires. Whereas CuO thin film shows good sensitivity to NH

The formation of hydroxocarbonate species (malachite and azurite) as a main reaction leading to the change in work function was proved with the help of FTIR measurements and thermodynamical considerations. Our Kelvin …

01/03/2018· The alteration in sensing behavior of CuO‐ZnO NPs under moisture suggests that water adsorption is playing an important role in CO 2 gas sensing mechanism. The crucial role of humidity for CuO based CO 2 sensing was also shown previously through Kelvin Probe investigations for room temperature and moderate temperature range [20] , [21] , [22] , [23] .
05/01/2021· The sensing response of nanoCuO coated samples to CO gas was tested in a chamber. Then, the quantity of targeted CO gas (typically 200 ppm) was injected into the testing chamber. The inverse relation between the grain size and resistance was observed from …
